Elizebeth Court litter pick
During a pre-event location check, discovered a Residents group were organising a communal garden/block area litter pick the following Monday/first day of half term.
The block, with varying of anti-social behaviour issues/has quite a few ‘two Op visits’, however, there are residents who are trying to make some positive social improvements, especially for their children.
‘Elizabeth Court, a council-owned housing block in Queen Street, Herne Bay, has been the focus of multiple recent anti-social behaviour (ASB) and public order incidents. Police have responded to numerous complaints regarding threats, violence, and disorder at the building. ‘
The CCC has organised event in August is hopefully the start of more positive engagement for the Elizabeth Court community.
Using materials already in stock/surplus from previous events, Cardo joined the Resident lead organisers and children to tidy up their communal garden with a superhero themed litter pick, something to do, something environment educational, something achievement. All kids received a superhero litter picking certificate and a small ‘thank you’ gift.
Due to short notice, Cardo Litter picking equipment unavailable, gathered/borrowed bits n bobs so there was at least some equipment available for the 12 children who took part.
