Work experience students from Langley College
In May, Cardo Group hosted the 3rd cohort of work experience students from Langley College. The programme was designed to provide practical, hands-on experience within the housing maintenance sector, supporting young people to develop employability skills and gain insight into potential career pathways.
Students began the programme with a structured recruitment process, including interviews to simulate real-life job applications. This was followed by a comprehensive health and safety induction to ensure readiness for site-based activities.
Each student was then paired with an experienced mentor who provided supervision and guidance throughout the placement. Under this support, students were able to assist with minor repairs in residents’ homes, gaining direct exposure to day-to-day operational work.
This initiative highlights the value of hands-on work experience in supporting young people into skilled careers. By combining structured learning with practical application, Cardo has created a model that can be replicated to strengthen local workforce development and industry engagement.
There was a ceremony, positive feedback given a certificate was presented to the students and a £25 voucher of appreciation.
