Revitalising Nature at Maesybryn Primary School – Phase 1 Complete
We’re proud to share the progress of a rewarding social value project at Maesybryn Primary School, where our team has been working to restore an overgrown pond area within the school grounds.
Over the course of two days, we focused on clearing dense vegetation that had taken over the site, including trees, bamboo, and heavy undergrowth. What was once an inaccessible and hidden space has now been opened up, revealing the original footprint of the pond and even a long-forgotten pathway beneath the overgrown grass.
The transformation has already begun to make an impact. With light returning to the area, the space is becoming more welcoming for wildlife. In fact, during the works, we were delighted to see a robin visiting the newly cleared pond – a small but meaningful sign of nature returning.
This project is all about creating a valuable outdoor learning environment for pupils while encouraging biodiversity. Phase 1 has laid the groundwork, and we’re excited to return for the next stage. Phase 2 will involve installing a new pond liner (with the help of a small digger) to fully restore this feature and further enhance the habitat.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with the school and seeing how this space evolves into a thriving, educational and wildlife-friendly environment for years to come.
