Cardo supports Queen Mary Hall Event
Cardo proudly supported the Queen Mary Event at Cambridge Gardens on the 8th of April. This event was intended to be a unique opportunity to engage with and welcome residents moving into their new homes. Cardo was among a handful of local service providers invited to add value to the event.
Cambridge Garden Estate comprises of approximately 220 homes, mostly flats in low rise buildings which are predominantly social and affordable housing. Cambridge Garden Estate forms part of Kingston’s core retained housing stock and will therefore play a stabilising role alongside the major Cambridge Road Estate regeneration. Cambridge Garden Estate is located in a ward with the highest relative deprivation in the borough, despite Kingston’s overall affluence and is therefore well suited to targeted Social Value initiatives such as this.
Staffing the Cardo stand was Elias Osman – Social Value Manager – who interacted with residents to inform of the organisation’s core services which residents can expect, as well as disseminating auxiliary information such as career opportunities at Cardo and valuable tips on preventing/treating damp & mould.
While the primary aim was identifying repairs needs of Cambridge Gardens residents, Elias took the opportunity to tour the estate with Kam Birdie – Resident Liaison Officer at RBK. Kam highlighted several areas where improvements could be made to the existing facilities. Kam will share these suggestions with the Social Value steering group at RBK to determine how the alliance can work together to bring these facilities up to standard.
As a result of Cardo’s presence at this event, a repair job for a creaky door was reported by a resident who lived upstairs from the flat in question. Elias attended the building to speak with the resident concerned and inspect the issue, the repair to the noisy door was subsequently raised and a suitable operative is booked to carry out the necessary work. This should ensure harmony is restored in the building and the resident’s quality of life no longer impacted.
Collaborating on such proactive initiatives demonstrates Cardo’s and RBK’s shared commitment to excellent service and willingness to anticipate resident needs.
Cardo Repairs was a fantastic addition to the Easter Family Community Event at Queen Mary Hall, providing valuable support and engaging positively with residents. Their presence gave tenants of Kingston Council a great opportunity to ask questions and get advice on repairs and home-related issues in an informal, friendly setting. The team was approachable and knowledgeable. Thank you to Cardo for their continued support and for helping make the day such a positive experience for everyone involved.
