Cardo attends Piggott Primary School Careers Fair
Cardo was pleased to be invited and take part in the Piggott Primary School Careers Fair on Thursday 30th April. Piggott Primary School (Charvil) is the primary phase of The Piggott School, an all‑through Church of England academy serving pupils aged 4–11 on its Charvil site, near Twyford in Wokingham Borough Council. It operates alongside the secondary site in Wargrave as part of a single, integrated school community, Piggott Primary is part of the Agape Multi Academy Trust, a Church of England trust formed in 2024. Its ethos is rooted in Christian values, particularly compassion, respect, service, and community. The school aims to provide a balanced education combining academic challenge, personal development, enrichment, and strong pastoral care, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported and encouraged to flourish.
‘You can’t be what you can’t see’ as the old adage goes so the fair was aimed at providing young pupils from foundation (reception) to year six, early exposure to the world of work thus stimulating their interest and broadening their horizons. The school principal, Ms Waite along with her colleagues managed the flow of pupils, grouping them in year groups and allowing 20 – 30 mins time slots to explore each stand at the fair.
Cardo’s stand at the careers fair was staffed by Elias Osman – Social Value Manager, Elias played a quick guessing game with all pupils who visited the Cardo stand to see if they could figure out the industry the organisation operates in based on clues displayed on the stand. The clues included a Cardo high visibility vest, hard hat and little house shaped sweet boxes. Elias then proceeded to answer the many pre-prepared questions the pupils had which ranged from what his job entailed to how he got into it. Among the pupils were some who showed a genuine interest in a career in construction, Elias spoke to those about the typical qualifications required and the pathways they could take to get a foothold in the industry such as the regular Cardo apprenticeship intakes.
Alongside the Cardo branded display gear, merchandise and careers leaflets, the Cardo stand also featured a dual branded banner proudly alluding to our partnership with Wokingham Borough Council.
Cardo’s presence at the Piggott School Careers Fair aligns strongly with the shared commitment with Wokingham Borough Council to support youth development and education and influence meaningful long-term impact in the community.
We are grateful to Cardo for their fantastic support at our recent careers fair. It was inspiring to see the children take the lead in setting the trade, demonstrating impressive hands-on skills and initiative. Their involvement highlighted the vital importance of environmental awareness and sustainability in the next generation of tradespeople.
