Cardiff’s LEGO League event at Ysgol Groes Wen brought together primary schools from across the city for a fun and engaging day focussed on STEM learning, teamwork and creativity.
The competition gave pupils the opportunity to design, build and programme LEGO robots before presenting their projects and demonstrating their coding skills in front of judges and fellow students.
On day one of the event, Annemarie Jenkins, Social Value Manager, attended as a STEM Ambassador to support the competition and help encourage young people to explore science, technology, engineering and maths in a hands-on and interactive way.
Annemarie was part of the judging panel for the presentation element of the competition, scoring teams across a wide variety of categories, including teamwork, innovation, communication and problem-solving.
Throughout the day, pupils showcased an impressive range of ideas and technical skills, confidently explaining how they had coded their robots to complete tasks and overcome challenges. Annemarie particularly enjoyed seeing the creativity behind the robots the children had built and hearing them talk through the coding and programming processes that brought their designs to life.
The event highlighted the enthusiasm and potential of young learners from across Cardiff, while also helping pupils build confidence, collaboration and presentation skills alongside their STEM knowledge.
