5-a-side World Cup Tournament
The event: Gôl Centres Cardiff is running a 5-a-side World Cup Tournament on Sunday 14 June 2026, 1pm kick-off, wrapping up by 6pm. Timed to coincide with the real-World Cup kicking off on 11 June. Open to adult teams aged 16+, played across our 10 enclosed 4G pitches at Lawrenny Avenue, Leckwith. Teams are guaranteed at least 45 minutes of playing time.
Format
- Group stage followed by knockout rounds
- Teams eliminated at the group stage drop into a Plate knockout bracket, so every team gets a second competitive run — no one’s day ends early
- Two trophies on the day: Cup winners and Plate winners
- Additional prizes to be confirmed
Community impact – how Cardo’s £1,500 will be used
- £500 towards entry-fee subsidies: every participating team receives a £10 reduction on their £35 entry fee, funded directly by Cardo. Supports up to 100 teams and lowers the barrier to grassroots participation.
- £1000 towards event delivery and prizes: Cup and Plate trophies, medals, player-of-the-tournament award, and on-the-day branding materials.
Measurable social value outputs: number of teams subsidised, total players participating, and reach into Cardiff’s grassroots football community.
