Cardo and partner the Royal Borough of Kingston (RBK), organised a Community Estate Day for residents of Chessington Hall Estate on the 2nd of April. Building on the foundations of last year’s Community Estate Days, this will be the first of many taking place from April to September. These events are intended to be a convenient way of bringing our services to residents whilst determining and meeting some of their needs on the day.
The residents of Chessington Hall Estate were informed of the event via informative flyers circulated by alliance staff members digitally, in person and through letterboxes the week prior.
Colleagues from across the alliance including Margaret Reynolds, Anthonia Shodiya, Kam Birdie, Richard Grainge, Donnali-Anne Skura, Taj Jules and Brian Kingsford from RBK. Sharon Carter, Rosaleen Mason, Jennefer-Rose Malone, Oliver Gouani, Clare Oakes and Elias Osman from Cardo came together to make the day a success.
Divided into two even teams, one half erected the gazebo and stands and prepared to interact with residents while the other half carried out a door knocking activity to remind residents of the event and the exact location of the alliance stand in the neighbourhood.
While the focus was predominantly on repairs and maintenance, the alliance stand was well stocked with leaflets containing important information on damp & mould, fire safety, retrofit as well as career opportunities at Cardo.
As part of the day’s offering, Cardo organised for a multi trade operative – Steven Jansenns – to be present to carry out any minor works raised by tenants on the day. A Cardo van was also on standby to take away any unwanted items and enable residents to declutter their homes.
The event proved to be very productive, the alliance picked up 11 new jobs. Four of these have since been completed including a waste removal job carried out on the day, five have been booked and two aids and adaptations are awaiting quotations.
Collaborating in such a proactive manner demonstrates Cardo and RBK’s shared commitment to excellent service and determination to anticipate resident needs.
