Cardo Celebrates 2 Weeks of Successful Trades Work Placements In Slough

Cardo celebrated the successful completion of work placements, which saw two young people, Freddie and Owen, join our team for two weeks of hands-on training in trades work.

After a site health and safety induction, Freddie, mentored by our Gas Operative and Owen, mentored by our Plumbing Operative, learnt about how repairs and maintenance of Slough Borough Council properties are carried out by Cardo. Both young people showed great enthusiasm and motivation, asking questions and building their confidence as they gained practical experience in their chosen trades.

Cardo operatives provided over 130 hours of direct mentoring support to Freddie and Owen during their time with us. Both had volunteered their own time to carry out work experience at Cardo, while they immersed themselves in acquiring knowledge and experience in their chosen trades. Their positive attitude and willingness to learn made them a valuable addition to our team, and we are proud to have played a role in helping them develop their skills and build their confidence.

I learnt some very important skills throughout the 2 weeks and gained an understanding of what a gas engineer does on a daily basis, and I feel that it is something I could do.

From the beginning Owen was punctual, well attired and very personable. He asked pertinent and pointed questions and absorbed principles well.

Cardo believes in investing in the next generation of trades-people and is committed to providing opportunities for young people to gain real-world work experience. We are pleased to have had the opportunity to work with Freddie and Owen, and we wish them all the best as they continue to pursue their careers in the trades.
